The Gratitude Project

06 Feb

My partner and I have started this habit of telling each other the three greatest things that happened to us each day.

The rules are that they have to be from that day and they have to be specific and not something like “I am grateful for my family”… of course you are, but why exactly?

What did your sister, brother, mother, aunt do for you today that you are so grateful for?

dreamIt is interesting because most days we have discovered that once we start noticing things and naming them, more wonderful things reveal themselves to us that we want to share with the other person.

Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it.
– William Arthur Ward

The other lovely piece of this is it has trained my brain to look for wonderful things to be grateful for during the day.

Is this moment it?

Is there something I could notice about this moment that would make this the most special?

It feels great to have this added awareness that kicks in several times throughout the day of… oh, what is in this moment that I can appreciate?

What are you grateful for today?

Can you name three things?

Take a good look!

And please, let me know…
